Magnetic Mount

What are magnetic mounting systems?

Magnetic mounting systems are innovative suspension systems that use powerful magnets to attach panels, frames, and other objects. These systems consist of magnetic components that together form a secure and flexible mounting solution. The major advantage is that you do not need to drill holes or use screws, leaving walls and ceilings intact.

The systems are suitable for various applications, from lightweight decorative panels to heavier acoustic elements. Thanks to the magnetic properties, you can easily move or exchange objects without tools. This makes them ideal for situations where frequent changes are required.

How does a magnetic mounting system work?

A magnetic mounting system works by using strong neodymium magnets that create a powerful connection with metal surfaces or special metal plates. The system usually consists of two parts: a magnetic element that is attached to the object to be suspended and a metal counterpart that is mounted to the wall or ceiling.

The magnetic force ensures a reliable connection that can support the weight of the object. The major advantage is reusability – you can effortlessly remove and rehang objects without damage. The magnets retain their strength for years, making the system a sustainable investment.

Types and variants of magnetic mounting systems

There are various types of magnetic mounting systems available, each designed for specific applications. Lightweight systems are suitable for photos, posters, and light panels up to approximately 5 kg. These use compact magnets that remain discreetly hidden behind the object.

Heavy-duty systems can support weights of up to 20 kg or more and are ideal for larger panels, whiteboards, or acoustic elements. Some systems feature adjustable magnets that allow you to precisely adjust the position. There are also rotating variants that make it possible to position objects at different angles.

Specifications and properties of magnetic mounting systems

The technical specifications of magnetic mounting systems vary by type and brand. Load capacity is a crucial factor and ranges from 2 kg for light systems to more than 25 kg for industrial applications. The magnets are usually made of neodymium , the strongest permanent magnet material.

Many systems feature a protective coating that prevents rust formation and improves grip. The sizes of the magnets vary from compact (20mm diameter) to larger (50mm or more) for heavier applications. Some systems feature rubber buffers that dampen vibrations and protect the surface from scratches.

What should you look for when choosing a magnetic mounting system?

When choosing a magnetic mounting system, the weight of the object to be hung is the most important factor. Always choose a system with sufficient overcapacity for safety. The type of surface you are mounting on is also important – some systems work directly on metal surfaces, while others require special metal plates.

Also pay attention to the thickness and material of the object to be mounted. Thick panels can affect the magnetic force. Environmental conditions also play a role – corrosion-resistant systems are recommended in damp areas. Finally, check compatibility with any existing suspension systems.

Assembly and installation of magnetic mounting systems

The installation of magnetic mounting systems varies depending on the type chosen. With click-on systems , you first attach the metal plate to the wall or ceiling, after which the magnetic element simply clicks into place. This method offers maximum flexibility for changing objects.

Magnetic strips are ideal for elongated objects. You attach the metal strip horizontally or vertically, after which magnetic holders can be placed in any desired position. With direct magnetic mounting on metal surfaces, you place the magnets directly without the need for additional components.

For a safe installation, it is important to first make the surface clean and grease-free. When mounting the metal components, you can choose between various fastening methods such as screws, glue, or clamps, depending on the type of surface. Always test with a light weight first before hanging heavier objects.
