Wire Grippers

What are self-clamps?

Self-clamps are innovative suspension systems that can be installed without the use of tools or drilling. These smart mounting systems utilize a clamping mechanism that grips itself onto various surfaces. The major advantage is that you do not cause damage to walls, ceilings, or other surfaces to which you attach the clamps.

The systems are designed for maximum flexibility and ease of use. You can easily move them when needed, making them perfect for changing exhibitions, temporary installations, or situations where you want to adjust the layout regularly. The clamps are available in various versions, each suitable for specific applications and surfaces.

How does a self-clamping system work?

Self-clamping suspension systems work by means of a sophisticated mechanism that exerts pressure on the surface. The system usually consists of two parts that are pressed against each other, where spring pressure or a screw mechanism provides the necessary clamping force. This force is evenly distributed across the contact surface, creating a strong and stable connection without damaging the material.

The operation is based on friction and pressure distribution. When you apply the clamp, the system adapts to the thickness of the material. Tightening or activating the clamping mechanism creates sufficient grip to safely hang heavy objects. Most systems are designed so that, when used correctly, they cannot come loose due to vibrations or movement.

Types and variants of self-clamping

There are various types of self-clamping clamps available, each designed for specific applications and materials:

• Glass clamps : Specially developed for mounting on glass surfaces, with soft protective pads that prevent scratches.
• Panel clamps : Suitable for mounting on thin panels such as suspended ceilings, with adjustable clamping opening
• Rail clamps : Designed to attach to suspension rails, they offer flexibility in positioning.
• Universal clamps : Adjustable for various thicknesses and materials, from wood to metal

Within our range, you will find clamps with diverse features. From high-quality finished models known for their reliability to innovative solutions with extra-strong clamping systems and elegant designs for art presentations.

Specifications and features of self-clamping

The technical specifications of self-clamping devices vary by model and application. Load capacity is a crucial factor and is determined by the design of the clamping mechanism, the contact surface, and the material strength. Professional clamps can support objects weighing up to several tens of kilograms, depending on the type and mounting method.

The materials from which self-clamps are made largely determine their durability and applicability. Stainless steel is often used for the mechanical parts due to its strength and corrosion resistance. Reinforced plastic or aluminum are used for lighter applications or where weight reduction is important. The contact points are often fitted with rubber or silicone pads to prevent damage and improve grip.

What should you look for when choosing self-clamping?

When selecting the right self-clamping devices, several factors are important. The type of surface to which you want to attach the clamp determines your choice. Smooth surfaces such as glass require different clamps than rough or porous materials. The thickness of the material must fall within the clamp's range; always check the minimum and maximum clamping opening.

The weight of the object to be suspended is, of course, essential. Always choose a clamp with sufficient overcapacity for safe use. Environmental conditions also play a role: corrosion-resistant materials are required for damp rooms, while UV-resistant plastics or galvanized steel are recommended for outdoor use. Also consider the aesthetic aspects ; some clamps are discreetly designed, while others serve as design elements.

Assembly and installation of self-clamps

The installation of self-clamping has been deliberately kept simple and requires no specialized tools. Begin by determining the correct position where the clamp should be placed. Check that the surface is clean and dry for optimal grip. Then, open the clamping mechanism sufficiently to slide it over the material.

Place the clamp in the desired position and activate the clamping mechanism . For screw clamps, tighten the screw until the clamp is securely fastened, but do not force it to prevent damage. For spring clamps, press the mechanism together until it clicks into place. Always test the firmness by gently pulling on the clamp before hanging the object. For heavier objects, it is advisable to use multiple clamps for better weight distribution and extra safety.
